This was our first at sea day, meaning we were sailing, made no stops, and haven’t seen land of any form for over 24 hours. Out of the Beagle Channel, and on into the Drake Passage.
Since we were ship-bound there isn’t a lot to share. Well, maybe sharing that we closed down the bar is worth it. We were so wrapped up in playing cards in the Explorer Lounge on the top level that we didn’t notice the bar’s clientele was slowly dwindling to nothing, nor did we notice that the bartenders had left for the night. We realize now that they closed early, possibly due to having no customers, but we still outlasted everyone tonight!!
The ship has a lottery system for Antarctic excursions, and we tossed our names in the hat for all three. Jay entered for snowshoeing, camping (yes…. camping ON the continent!) and kayaking while Tim opted to stick with camping only. We should be notified tomorrow if we’ve been selected for any excursions. The kayak briefing was today so Jay had to attend just in case she was chosen. Fingers crossed!!
